A Failure Nearly Complete: COP 30 |
From beginning to end, the recently-completed UN climate conference, in Belém, Brazil, failed to deliver. [] Regrettably, the COP 30 leadership was more concerned to forge a final conference statement conveying the appearance of agreement than to press the nations for rapid and widespread decarbonization. Eelco Rohling's Clarion Call on Migration and Climate |
The term "fossil fuel" was not the only important one missing from COP 30's final communique. The term "migration" was also conspicuous by its absence. We therefore republish here Dr. Eelco Rohling's clarion call on the subject, from June, wherein he declare, in part, that "we might deny the obvious or [] try to hermetically seal borders and pray to magically avoid continent-scale or global conflict over living space, food, and water, [or] we could accept responsibility and face the impending crisis with knowledge and courage.
