Nelson Bonner

CPR Initiative Creative

Technology Educator, Writer & Editor

Nelson Bonner taught technology at Hartnell College in Salinas, California, and Chartwell School in Seaside, California. After retirement he finished his PhD in Psychology from the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology in Palo Alto, California. As a grandparent, he has focused on a number of projects to address the climate crisis, ultimately leading to his joining the CPR Initiative Board.

In 2016 he founded a nonprofit, Grandchildren’s Fund For A Fossil Fuel Free Future, with the intent of suing the carbon majors and their enabler institutions and individuals for damages to the health and welfare of the grandchildren and their children. He also began writing What More Are Grandparents For? – The Climate Crisis in the words of Grandparents and Grandchildren (Parents, Children, and Nonparents, too), though this was put on hold due to the pandemic.

The nonprofit project was shelved for a number of reasons but the book is now under way again. It will feature interviews with well known and lesser known climate activist grandparents and one or more of their grandchildren.
