Meet The Speakers
Donn J. Viviani
President of CPR Initiative. Donn is a retired Environmental Protection Agency scientist, following 35 years of service. At EPA he served as Director of its Climate Policy Division and, over the course of his work there, he ran other divisions / branches in every media at the Agency. Donn also served as Chairman of the Great Lake Water Quality Board Toxics Committee and as a member of the International Joint Commission Science Coordinating Committee. Donn holds a PhD in physical organic chemistry.
Dan Galpern
General Counsel & Executive Director of CPR Initiative. An environmental attorney and policy analyst based in Eugene, OR. Dan has, since 2011, served as legal and policy adviser to climate scientist James E. Hansen – including with respect to administrative, criminal and civil state and federal actions in CA, IA, MA, MN, NB, ND, OK, OR, SD, WA, D.C., Colombia, New Zealand, the Philippines, Uganda & the UK. Dan is co-author of Making the Fossil Fuel Industry Pay to Restore a Viable Climate (2014) and currently represents all petitioners in their Petition to EPA to Phase Out GHG Pollution.
Dr. James E. Hansen
Former Director, NASA Goddard Institute of Space Studies, & current Director of Climate Science, Awareness and Solutions (CSAS), an Earth Institute program at Columbia University, NYC. Dr. Hansen is author of the books Storms of My Grandchildren and Sophie’s Planet (forthcoming), as well as principal author / co-author of numerous papers on climate change. He is best known for his testimony on climate change to congressional committees in the 1980s that helped raise broad awareness of the global warming issue.
